With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac has proved it’s one of the best superhero game developers in the industry, and now the studio is looking to add another character under its belt, Wolverine. Originally announced during PlayStation’s September 2021 Showcase, Marvel’s Wolverine is a single-player narrative title being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 5, and here’s everything we know so far.
Is There A Release Date For Marvel’s Wolverine PS5?
Marvel’s Wolverine does not yet have a release date for the PlayStation 5. Rumors hint at the title being scheduled for a Fall 2024 release, however, that doesn’t sound right once you find out Death Stranding 2 is reportedly set to launch in the same time frame.
A Summer 2025 release for Marvel’s Wolverine seems more practical since there’s strong evidence suggesting Kojima’s DS2 will take up PlayStation’s Q2 first-party spot. For now, though, you’ll have to wait until the latter half of 2024 before more news about the game drops.
In the two years since the 50-second teaser for Marvel’s Wolverine was released, we haven’t even seen a single new image. As for the teaser itself, die-hard comic book fans were able to spot a couple of Easter eggs. Chiefly, there’s a good chance the story takes place in the same universe as Insomniac’s Spider-Man and that there might be a cameo of the webbed menace, as well as the Hulk. If that doesn’t sound like a Marvel video game universe in the making, then I wouldn’t know what does.
Creative Director Brian Horton commented that unlike their previous superhero adaptation, Marvel’s Wolverine will have a “mature tone” which will be faithful to what makes Logan such a great character. A mature tone could mean a number of things, but I hope that’s Brian being cryptic about there being tons of gore and carnage.
